Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20โ22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
