Lille shot-stopper the Turkish keeper spectacularly stopped three straight penalties in the closing moments of their European victory over Roma.

Lille took the lead through Hakon Arnar Haraldsson's sixth-minute goal after he capitalised on an error to score.

However home side the Italian club were given the perfect opportunity to level the scores and earn a tie when they were awarded an late penalty after handball by Mandi.

Substitute Artem Dovbyk stepped forward to execute the spot-kick but his shot was stopped, only for official the referee to order a retake after the keeper was ruled to have stepped forward.

Dovbyk took the kick once more only to be stopped a second time by the away keeper, but this time the Turkish international was ruled to have moved forward too early.

The duty to execute the third kick was then passed to Matias Soule, but he as well was denied by the Lille keeper and on this occasion the save was valid to help ensure Lille's win.

Roma boss Gasperini said afterwards: "I have never witnessed 3 failed penalties in a single match. It was an nearly unique unusual situation, which ultimately influenced the outcome."
